Did 525 chain

What size is a 525 chain?

These chains are generally found on mid-range motorcycles. The next size is 525 ? this is 2.5 x 1/8-inch = 5/16 (8mm) hence the ?25?). In metric, this ranges from 22.6mm to 23.7mm.

Is a #50 and #530 chain the same?

Nowadays there is little to no difference between 50 and 530 chains, but the difference originated from where 50 chains were used in industrial applications whereas 530 chains were used primarily for transport and vehicles. Therefore 50 chains were traditionally more durable but heavier and more expensive.

What is the difference between a 520 and a 525 chain?

The 5 part just describes the distance between the centers of the link pins (or wherever on the links, basically how long a link is) and the next two numbers describe the width of the chain. So a 520 chain is going to be narrower than a 525(and thus require a narrower front and rear sprocket) and lighter..

How strong is a 520 chain?

The tensile strength of the very top chains will be slightly higher (my EK520 chains’ rating is 9400 where the top DID 530 is roughly 10400). Bear this in mind though, a stock OEM chain tensile strength is lucky to be 6500

Can I use a 520 sprocket with 525 chain?

Would the 520 front sprocket fit on a 525 chain without problems occurring? A. No way. Get it exchanged for the correct size or you could find your chain jumping the sprocket and smashing up the engine casings ? or even your foot!

How often should you replace a motorcycle chain?

If maintained regularly a decent quality motorcycle chain should give you 15,000 to 20,000 miles (24,000 ? 32,000 km) of hassle free riding while high end Gold X or O-ring chains will last 20,000 to 30,000 miles (32,000 ? 48,000 km).

Are O-ring chains worth it?

The O-rings encircle the pin bushings, and rest between the outer link and inner link plates. This seals chain grease in the pins and rollers, maintaining better lubrication for longer. Because of this, O-ring chains have a reputation of lasting anywhere from 1.5 ? 2 times longer than standard, non-O-ring chains.

How often should you oil a motorcycle chain?

Your motorcycle’s chain needs to be lubricated every 400-800 miles to keep it at its best. This can vary depending on your bike’s use; road bikes will need the chain cleaning less than off-road bikes.
